This dainty yet hearty fruits bowl is crafted from a lovely two-toned teak, and sits at 13 cm tall with a base width of 11.8cm, expanding to 20.5cm at its widest. The wood has been skillfully turned down to a gauge of approximately 6mm all around. Dating back to c. 1970s, it has a pleasing round shape and the emphasized natural wood grain striation highlights the maker’s choice to produce this piece from one solid, unique cut of wood. Further, one lower quadrant displays a unique, natural contrast from a speckled medium-brown heartwood to a blonde sapwood tone, drawing the eye to hover on this simple but marvelous piece.
This bowl had its flaking, yellowing, scratched up polyurethane finish carefully removed and is refinished with food-safe, child-safe, pet-safe Osmo Polyx finish on top of a conditioning Danish Oil coat to make the wood grain and natural color of the teak pop. Its finish will not flake or peel and is free of plastics. It can be refreshed moving forward with an oil-based finish like the above.
